One Sided Low back Pain? The Fix

CrossFit training with wall ball

If you are struggling with lower back pain that sits strictly on one side, general stretching and rest rarely solve the root issue. One-sided back pain is frequently caused by a mechanical lateral shift—a subtle alignment issue where your pelvis and spine shift away from each other to avoid pain or compression. This unequal pressure irritates your spinal discs, joints, and surrounding nerves.

To resolve this, you need to restore symmetrical movement. The lateral hip glide—or “hip shift”—is a highly effective, targeted decompression movement. By utilizing a wall to stabilize your upper body, you can safely glide your pelvis to open up the compressed side of your spine. This movement works by physically taking pressure off the irritated tissues, allowing the muscles to relax and restoring normal mechanics to your lower back.
